Title I & IX
Title I Program Description
The purpose of Title I, Part A is to provide all children a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps. Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging, State academic standards. Funding for Title I begins with the award of allocations by state per the United States Department of Education.
Title I schools will:
- Identify students who are in need of the most educational assistance based on the criteria the district/school has chosen.
- Set goals for improving the skills of students who are academically at-risk.
- Develop programs, plans, and activities for students and parents that support regular classroom instruction and family and community engagement.
Title IX - Mr. Wacha was designated at the board meeting of January 2, 2018, to serve as the district's Title IX officer.
