Summary:  The HPS Chess Club is an after-school activity for students in grades 6-8 who are interested in playing chess.  Students of all playing levels, from novice to experienced, are invited to join.  In-person meetings are held once a week, and an open-enrollment policy is maintained to allow students to continue to join and play throughout the school year.  Through participation in the Chess Club, students learn to think strategically, practice problem solving, improve decision-making skills and build self-confidence.  The Chess Club also provides student members the opportunity to connect with new peers who share common interests and develop lasting relationships.
