 Principal's Welcome Message
Dear Haledon Public School Parents and Community Members,
We are very excited to begin our 2018-2019 school year at HPS!  Our first day of school for students will be on Thursday, September 6th.  I hope that this summer break has been great for all of our students, and I also hope that they are as excited to begin the school year as we are.  In addition to all of the tremendous programs we offer to students there are few new initiatives that we will begin this year that I would like to bring to your attention.
This year we will open a school store.  We are still in the process of developing the school store, selecting vendors, and finalizing the logistics of the store, but we expect that within a month or two we will have more information available for you about this.  With that said, I expect the school store will be a great way for students and parents to purchase Haledon gear and it will also help our student groups with their fundraising efforts.
Additionally, we will be adding a grade 3-5 athletic skills development program.  This program will begin in late September and will run one day per week in the fall and spring.  Boys and girls in these grades will receive information about this program the second week of school.  We believe it will be a great way for students to spend an hour after-school developing soccer skills during the fall and baseball/softball skills during the spring.  There will be no fee for students to enter this program.
We will also be augmenting our STEM program by offering parent/student STEM MAKER NIGHTS throughout the school year.  We found that this program was well received by our school community last year, and we will look to expand these nights to students of all grade levels.
Lastly, we will hold a MEET YOUR TEACHER night on September 5th for all parents that have students grades PK-5.  This will be a great way for parents to become introduced to their child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, and get important information directly from the person most directly involved with their child’s education.  You will see more information about this in the flyer that we have included in this mailing.
I am very excited about this coming school year, the direction we are headed at HPS, and the great things our students will accomplish this year.
     Go Wildcats!
